NYCN Southern Stakeholders Meet In Calabar, Emphasize Synergy And Transparency Amongst Young Leaders

In a bid to foster youth development in the Southern Senatorial District of Cross River State, stakeholders of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) from the seven local government areas that make up the district met in Calabar on Saturday, March 29, 2025. The meeting served as a platform to discuss critical issues affecting young people in the region and explore solutions pivotal to advancing youth development. In his opening remarks, the convener, Comr. Benjamin Edet, who currently serves as the Vice Chairman (South) of NYCN in Cross River State, highlighted the council’s role in tutoring, developing, and preparing young people for greater responsibilities. CRS Environment Commissioner, Hon. Osogi Enforces Discipline On Defaulters Of Sanitation Law

The Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Moses Osogi, led the statewide environmental sanitation exercise for March, inspecting various parts of Calabar to assess ongoing sanitation activities. During his inspection tour, round Calabar metropolis, he visited the University of Calabar student hostel, sensitizing students on the importance of hygiene and encouraging active participation in the monthly environmental sanitation exercise. Additionally, Hon. Dr. Ushie Urges Consumer Vigilance As Agency Destroys Substandard Goods

In observance of the 2025 World Consumer Rights Week themed "A Just Transition to Sustainable Lifestyle," the Cross River State Consumer Protection Agency conducted a significant operation to safeguard public health. The agency destroyed a variety of expired and substandard consumables, including snacks, drugs, beverages, cosmetics, and toiletries, which were confiscated from unscrupulous traders in local markets. During the exercise, the Director General of the agency, Prince Charles Ushie, Ph.D urged consumers to remain vigilant when purchasing products. He advised that consumers should carefully check for production and expiry dates, batch numbers, NAFDAC certification, and ISO numbers on foreign products to ensure their safety and authenticity. In a bid to foster youth development and job creation in Cross River State, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Youth Development. Dr. Julius Kijuo, has paid a courtesy visit to the new Cross River State Coordinator of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Mr. Anthony Moloa, on January 27, 2025, at the Federal Secretariat, Calabar.   The visit is aimed at strengthening collaboration between the state government and the federal agency in providing training and employment opportunities for the youth.  During the meeting, Dr. Kijuo highlighted the importance of reviving the three vocational training centers that once operated across the three senatorial districts of the state under the NDE.
