NYCN Central Stakeholders Meet In Yakurr, Interact On Modalities Pivotal To Council's Growth


....Members Of National and State Assembly, local Government Chairmen were Charged to Prioritize skill development, entrepreneurship and job creation for C'River youth.

The leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Cross River State Chapter, led by His Youthfulness Comr. Emmanuel Olayi, convened a stakeholders’ engagement meeting in the Central Senatorial District of the State on April 12, 2025. The event which held in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area brought together key stakeholders from the six LGAs within the district.

The interactive session provided a platform for stakeholders to present their progress reports, highlight existing challenges, and offered strategic ideas to propel the council’s growth and development.




In his opening address, the NYCN Vice Chairman for the Central Senatorial District, Comr. Evalsam Ekpe, updated participants on the significant milestones achieved under Comr. Emmanuel Olayi’s administration. He appreciated stakeholders for their commitment and emphasized that their presence and contributions in the meeting were crucial to the realization of the council’s broader objectives in the central Senatorial district and across the state.

During the session, various stakeholders presented their reports and deliberated on the current state of the council, including recent initiatives aimed at reorienting youth toward peace and productivity. Discussions also centered on the forthcoming local government transition as attendees proposed that the state leadership provide a structured framework to guide local government stakeholders and outgoing coordinators in conducting elections in line with the NYCN constitution.



Youth development and empowerment were central to the discussions. The stakeholders praised the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Apostle Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, for his unwavering support of youth-focused initiatives, including training and empowerment programs. They also urged members of the National Assembly, State Assembly, and Local Government Chairmen to prioritize skill development, entrepreneurship, and job creation because the NYCN believes such initiatives are essential for equipping young people with the tools needed to thrive in the current economic climate and contribute meaningfully to both state and national development.

This central stakeholders’ meeting reaffirmed NYCN’s commitment to fostering unity and development among youth, while actively collaborating with governmental bodies to ensure sustainable progress for young people across Cross River State.


The well-attended event featured the presence of Comr. Bacil Mgang, State Deputy Chairman of the Council; Comr. Evalsam Ekpe, Vice Chairman Central; Comr. Ofem Okoi, State Organizing secretary; Dr. Victor Ndifon, Chairman of the State Advisory Council (SAC); as well as past and current officers of the council and coordinators from all six LGAs in the Central Senatorial District.
