Leader Of Etung Legislature Convenes Solemn Assembly
The Leader of the Etung Legislative Council, Hon.ThankGod Ekpunse recently organized a solemn assembly and a general community meeting for the Abia Clan, marking the first of such gatherings for the year.
The well attended meeting brought together respected traditional and community leaders, including Ntufam Peter Okongor; Ntufam Mathew Ojong Tawor, Acting Clan Head; Ntunkae Ma Alice Akor, Women Chief; Ntufam Augustine Obi; Mrs. Victoria Njar, CRO Etung LGA; Mr. Cyrus Akor; Amb. Victor Abang, among other well-meaning sons and daughters of the clan.
The people expressed immense satisfaction with the initiative, especially as it came after a period of various challenges faced by the community. They commended the Legislative Council Leader for fostering unity through such an inclusive initiative.
During the meeting, several pressing issues were raised. One significant matter was the reported destruction of the women's stool of authority, the traditional iron gong by a youth. It was resolved that the youth involved would face legal consequences to serve as a deterrent.
Another highlight of the meeting was the unanimous endorsement of Mr.Okuine Agbor as the Interim Town Council Chairman for a three-month term, pending the conduct of proper elections.
Furthermore, the Leader Hon.ThankGod Ekpunse reaffirmed the authority of the current youth leader, declaring him the only recognized and authentic youth representative of the Abia Clan.
The meeting ended on a note of hope and renewed commitment to peace, development, and inclusive leadership within the community.
