CRS Environment Commissioner, Hon. Osogi Enforces Discipline On Defaulters Of Sanitation Law
The Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Moses Osogi, led the statewide environmental sanitation exercise for March, inspecting various parts of Calabar to assess ongoing sanitation activities.
During his inspection tour, round Calabar metropolis, he visited the University of Calabar student hostel, sensitizing students on the importance of hygiene and encouraging active participation in the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
Additionally, Hon. Osogi inspected Attamunu, Marian and Abasi Obori markets where defaults were apprehended. not left out are motor parks along Ettagbor Road that were operational during sanitation hours while he ensured that violators faced charges at the sanitation mobile court.
To further enforce sanitation laws, he apprehended individuals found driving and others moving on the streets during the restricted sanitation period, handing them over to law enforcement agencies while Premises that failed to meet the state's environmental standards were sealed until further notice, pending directives from the ministry.
One of the most affected areas is the Esukutan community in Calabar, where the commissioner expressed dismay over blocked waterways caused by indiscriminate waste disposal and unauthorized structures. Community leaders commended the commissioner and his team for their proactive measures, noting that residents had been repeatedly warned to comply with sanitation regulations but failed to do so. He eurged all Cross River residents to remain committed to maintaining a clean environment and supporting the government’s efforts toward a healthier, more sustainable state.
