CRS Is Set To Commence Agric Revolution With Youth - Barr. Ijom Ukam
The commissioner for youth development in Cross River State, Barr. Ijom Ukam has expressed Governor Bassey Otu's intentionality about Agricultural productivity and food security in the State.
The commissioner made the expression, when receiving over twenty Cross River youth in the conference room of the ministry, who returned with distinction from the youth in Agriculture program and training held at Port Harcourt Rivers State, applauded the youths for being good ambassadors of the state, as impressive reports he has received proves that Cross River young people have the qualities to compete with leading young people in Nigeria and do better.
He also implored the beneficiaries to utilize the knowledge they have acquired and be intentional about agriculture, as the Government of Cross River State is set to embark on agricultural revolution that will engage ninety-five percent of Cross River youth to drive the different agricultural value Chains, with focus on food productivity and security, for reduction of unemployment amongst the youth of Cross River State and also production of abundant food for residents of the State and beyond.
Speaking, the State Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Cross River State Chapter, His Youthfulness Obol Comr. Emmanuel Olayi expressed his joy over the excellent performance of the youths at Port harcourt, stated that the council under his watch is striving to ensure that every youth in Cross River is productive, further thanked the youth development commissioner for the support the youth council is getting from the ministry, assuring him of continued collaboration between the council and the ministry for further development and empowerment of young Cross Riverans.
On their part, the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the commissioner and the State Chairman of NYCN for offering them the opportunity to partake in the program, narrated their experiences and achievements that have reshaped them and imparted them with the knowledge needed to be effective in the different agric sub-sectors required for sustainable agricultural productivity in the State and beyond.
