Environmental Sanitation: C'Riverians Intensify Commitment To Sanitation Exercise, Defaulters Arrested And Arraigned

Residents of Calabar metropolis have been applauded by the Commissioner for Environment in Cross River State, Hon. Moses Osogi, for their thorough participation in the end of the month State- wide environmental sanitation exercise, while defaulters were arrested and arraigned before the sanitation mobile court in Calabar.

In different parts of Calabar metropolis , including Satalite town, Edim Otop, Ibb way, Etta Agbor, Ikot Ansa, Akai Efa and more where the commissioner visited to assertain the level of compliance to the exercise,  residents were found intensively participating in the sanitation exercise through cleaning and evacuating waste around their environment.

A large number of defaulters of the sanitation law were also arrested on the streets as men and women found roaming the streets, vehicles, motorcycles, tricycles found driving on the roads at the hours of the ongoing sanitation exercise were impounded and the passengers arrested while owners of provision shops, gas vendors, Akara sellers, restaurants, laundry shops that were found open and operating were closed down and their owners arrested by the task force team of the ministry of environment.
The Environment Commissioner, Hon. Moses Osogi who in company of the taskforce team, security agency and men of the press visited different markets in calabar metropolis to asses the level of traders participation in the exercise, arrested traders who were found selling during the hours of the sanitation exercise at Ikot ishie and Edim Otop markets, handed them over to the mobile sanitation court for prosecution while edible items seized from them and other sellers in different parts of Calabar were all taken to the orphanage homes and home of the aged In Calabar.
At kasuk community where the Commissioner and his team visited the Clan head of kasuk Clan Ntoe Patrick Agbor, Ntoe Patrick applauded the Commissioner for his unwavering dedication to achieving a clean Cross River State, applauded Government for bringing back the environmental sanitation exercise that is essential for the achievement of a clean environment that aids healthy living in human. Furthermore Inspection of premises of religious Organizations domicile in kasuk community wasn't left out by the Commissioner and his team, as Hon. Osogi frowned at the level of filth found in the premises of the churches where grown grasses and blocked drainage's were found in the premises, leading to environmental polution. 

Hon.Osogi who commended the level of compliance by residents of the State, reiterated Governor Bassey Otu's Commitment towards maintaining a neat and healthy Cross River, added that Government is not ready to suffer any set back in achieving a clean State, as every individual found violating the sanitation law of the State will be made to face disciplinary actions of Government, also motor park operators who have violated the sanitation law of the State by opening their parks and operating will have their premises sealed by Government and the management of such parks charged to court for disobeying government law.

The Environment Commissioner charged residents of the State to continually clean their environments, as Government on her own part will ensure that other responsibilities ensued to them would be taken care of orderly.
