C'River Government Prosecute Environmental Sanitation Law's Violators In The State.

The mobile sanitation court set up by the Cross River State Government to prosecute violator's of the sanitation law's of the State,  have over the weekend prosecuted over eighty individuals who contravened the environmental sanitation laws of the state. The individuals who were arrested by the task force team of the Cross River State Ministry of Environment during there supervision of the State wide environmental sanitation exercise, had committed different punishable offence's stated in the sanitation law, which includes disregarding the restriction of human and vehicular movement during the hours of sanitation exercise, refusal to partake in the sanitation exercise, selling during the hours of the sanitation exercise and opening of business premises for operations during the hours of the environmental sanitation exercise. C'River Governor Otu Suspends Cross River Assembly Commission

The Executive Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, has directed the immediate suspension of the Cross River State House of Assembly Commission.  Governor Bassey Otu informed the House of Assembly of this through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh, in a letter dated March 18, 2024, which was read on the floor of the House of Assembly by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem on March 19, 2024.  The Governor stated that the suspension became necessary following the House of Assembly Commission's failure to reveal the correct seniority order of the eligible staff members for the position of Clerk of the House of the Cross River State House of Assembly.  "The unfortunate outcome was His Excellency, the Governor's misguided selection of Mr. Patrick Edi over Mrs. Catherine Ubi and the ripple effect this has caused," the letter read. 

C'River & Ebonyi Resolve To End Age-Long Land Disputes

In a bid to end protracted boundary disputes between Cross River and Ebonyi State, both states have resolved to embrace and work towards achieving peace along the border corridors of Ndiagu Amagu, Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi and Adadama, Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State. The resolution was contained in a 5-point communique issued after a meeting of officials of Cross River/Ebonyi State on interstate boundary held at Ebonyi State Deputy Governor's office, Abakaliki on Tuesday, 19th March, 2024. In a communique adopted by officials from both parties and signed by the Deputy Governors of Cross River State and Ebonyi State, the meeting resolved to embark on sensitization of the affected communities to desist from all forms of encroachment while waiting for the delineation of the boundaries by the National Boundary Commission (NBC). Governor Bassey Otu Withdraws Patrick Edi's Appointment, Appoints Ubi As Clerk Of CRSHA

The Executive Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu has approved the immediate withdrawal of Mr, Patrick Edi's appointment as the Clerk of the House of Assembly.   Governor Bassey Otu notified the House of Assembly of this decision in a letter dated March 18, 2024, through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh, which Speaker Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem read on the floor of the House of Assembly on March 19, 2024.  According to the SSG's letter, the reversal of the appointment was "based on the fact that the critical criterion for seniority was not highlighted or even made reference to in the recommendations made to His Excellency. Especially, while Mr. Patrick Edi was employed before Mrs Catherine Ubi, her becoming a Director before the other gives her the advantage of seniority." As a result, Barr. Catherine Ubi was appointed the substantive clerk of the Cross River State House of Assembly.
