Hon. Victor Kejuo Emerge Speaker Of Cross River State Youth Parliament 2nd Assembly.
The 2nd assembly of the Cross River State youth Parliament has held it inaugural sitting today at the Cross River State House of Assembly complex in Calabar.
The inauguration which held with twenty three new members out of twenty five to represent their constituencies where led to the nomination of the member representing Boki 1 constituency, Hon. Victor kejuo as Speaker of the Parliament by Hon. Festus Azogor-member representing ABI state constituency, and nomination was unanimously adopted by the house while the member representing Calabar South 2 State Constituency, Hon. Pamela Ekpenyong was also nominated and voted in as Deputy Speaker of the house.
The newly inaugurated speaker in his speech assured the people that the 2nd Assembly of the CRS youth parliament will bring equal development to the various constituencies as all services expected of them will be carried out effectively and appropriately.
In furtherance, a seasoned legislator and former member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Dr. George O'ben Etchi while addressing the newly inaugurated members, congratulated them and charged them to be dutiful in serving their constituents who elected them, as well as joining forces to demand good Governance that will benefit the people they represent, adding that as representatives they are at all times expected to speak the minds of the people they represent. He also iterated that the youths have played a strategic and significant role in enthroning the present Government of Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu and encouraged the parliamentarians to get on their feet and demand the place of the youths in the affairs of Cross River State.
The Cross River State Chairman of the National Youth Council(NYCN), Obol.Comr. Dan Obo Jnr who also addressed the newly sworn in parliamentarians said the event is another history making event in Cross River State, pointed out that the youth is a very critical sector needed for the development of the state and as such the new members should be committed to effective representation of their constituents while they imbibe the virtues of good Governance and wished them a successful tenure.
The inauguration had an oath taking session while the Hon. Speaker made new appointments for his office.
